Summary: Policy paper of Australia's National Transport Commission, released for consultation in April 2024, setting out the proposed in-service obligations of the Automated Driving System Entity under the planned Commonwealth Automated Vehicle Safety Law. It proposes a general duty to ensure the safety of the automated driving system over its design life, detailed duties, prescriptive requirements and reporting obligations, overseen by a national in-service safety regulator that keeps an Automated Vehicle Register. The Automated Vehicle Safety Law remains proposed legislation.
