Summary
Program Conditions of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation implementing the ten-year automated commercial motor vehicle pilot under O. Reg. 161/25 through a graduated approval framework with driver-supervised and driverless testing streams. In driverless testing the participant remains responsible and must ensure that an assistant, located in the vehicle or elsewhere in Ontario, provides oversight. The assistant may initiate a safe stop, manoeuvre the vehicle to clear the way or advise its decision-making, but must not remotely control regular driving tasks.
Význam
The Conditions draw an explicit legal line between remote oversight with exceptional safety intervention and ordinary remote driving while keeping the participant responsible throughout, a model of direct value for national drafting.
